As an interpreter of
his own compositions during the 70's in Brazil, he produced one single and
two full-sized records, including Arnoldo Medeiros, O Homem , O Poeta,
produced for RCA by the famous Brazilian musician and producer Helcio
Milito. Musical arrangements were by the composer and
piano player Luiz
Eça. This record featured all Tamba
Trio original musicians, guitar player Hélio
Delmiro, drummer Chico Batera, fluggerhorn player Celinho,
composer/producer/guitar player Durval
Ferreira, with background vocals by Trio
Esperança, Golden
Boys and the singer Evinha.
Since 2001, he has
written lyrics for over 50 new musical compositions and 20 poems.
The majority of which were collaborations with composers Dom
Salvador,
Felipe
Radicetti and Fred
Falcão. Radicetti and Falcão live in Rio de Janeiro, while piano player
and jazz leader Dom, resides in New York City. Dom has recorded with
some of he most renowned US jazz musicians, and. his solo records are being
issued in the US, Japan, UK, Italy and Brazil.
Another of his major
partners is the singer and composer Rosa
Passos,
She became famous in the United States by recording with Yo-Yo
Ma (Obrigado
Brazil) and
Ron Carter
(Entre
Amigos). Rosa's CDs
Rosa, by the jazz label Telarc (USA), released on February 2006,
contains the song Edredon de Seda co-authored by Arnoldo, and Amorosa,
produced by Sony Classics (USA) contains the song Essa é Pro João,
also lyrics written by Arnoldo. This last song honors the singer and guitar
player João Gilberto, one of the fathers of bossa nova movement. This recording has revived the old musical partnership between
Arnoldo and Rosa, who are now developing a new set of songs.
Arnoldo Medeiros is
registered in Brazil as a composer associated to the Sociedade
Independente de Compositores and Autores Musicais (SICAM). He has
participated and won prizes in several prestigious music festivals in
Brazil and was awarded retainer contracts to compose for Brazilian
television soap
operas and shows. He has also written scores for Brazilian movies and
theater plays. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
